Earth Day / Earth Week 2015 Events

We had two events for Earth Day / Earth Week this year. (the week of April 22)

• The first event was the showing of Clifford Carnicom's "Cloud Cover: The Deliberate Destruction of our Atmosphere", a documentary film about GeoEngineering Aerosol Spraying. This 45-minute film was screened at The Pageant Theatre on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 12:00 noon. Thank you to the volunteers who helped by putting up posters and handing out quarter-page flyers, and thank you to the downtown businesses who displayed them in their windows.

Thank you to our sponsors:   Nina Widlund,   Chico Peace & Justice Center,   Lotus Guide,   Dr. Pruett, DDS,   and 3 anonymous supporters, for making the event financially possible.

Nearly 50 people came to see Clifford Carnicom's "Cloud Cover" on Saturday! Almost everyone stayed for the Q&A afterward and contributed to an in-depth discussion. We sold every copy of the "Cloud Cover" DVDs that we had made and ended in the black after paying for the rental of the theater. And ten new people signed up to our e-mail list. We call that a resounding success.

Thank you again to everyone in the group who helped promote the event, putting up posters, handing out flyers, developing the ads and helping with set up and support.

Thanks to Miles Montalbano at The Pageant Theatre for his encouragement and support. (The Pageant is always very supportive of our efforts.) And a big thank you to Marla Crites for successfully managing the big project and doing all of the many things required in such an endeavor, which was quite an undertaking, and Bill Donnelly who designed the beautiful poster, the ad (with help from the CN&R ad team – thanks to them, too), and the DVD insert. (and Mr. Kopy – they are also always very supportive of our efforts) And apologies to the several people who showed up to the '2:00 showing' due to a misprint in the CN&R.

More information about Clifford Carnicom can be found at his website: https://CarnicomInstitute.org/

Here are some PDF files of posters and a 4-up, quarter-page, one-side flyer. (we print them nicely (thank you Mr. Kopy at 119 Main St., a long-time supporter of CSW), so ideally people should come to a meeting and get them from us there)
Cloud Cover Poster Letter Size (1.25 MB)
Cloud Cover Poster 9x13 inches (2.8 MB)
Cloud Cover Quarter-Page Flyers (1.25 MB)

• The second event was a Street Rally the next Saturday, April 25 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm at the corner of Main St. and 5th St., on the south east corner of the City Plaza. People brought their signs with large, bold print so they were easy to see by passing cars. Special thank you to Betty for making extra signs that were very nice. (see photos) We also had a sign-making session at the monthly meeting on April 8.

Sixteen people participated in and had a lot fun at Saturday's Street Rally celebrating the Global March Against GeoEngineering. People were delighted with the honks and cheering and thumbs up from the drivers. There were many very good signs as you can see by the photos posted on our Facebook group page.

Best costume award goes to Brian S. for his Terminator helmet and hand used to grab people's attention. A big shout out to Mark and Carol who made a special trip all the way from the Susanville area just for the rally. (Sue E. drove over from Orland) The most readable sign award goes to Betty C. for her colorful, impactful signs she created and provided. Thank you to the photographers (Cindy R. and Lori O.-C.) for the nice photos and Chris C. for taking video.
