Successful Endangered Species Faire Event

Next Meeting is Tuesday, May 13 at 6:30 pm

Last Saturday at the BEC Endangered Species Faire we saw a lot of action at the CSW booth. We sold 5 What in the World? T-shirts, a number of our new posters (beautifully designed by Bill) and handed out many tri-fold flyers. Byron and Jake tirelessly interacted with passers-by – ranging from the "No I've never noticed any lines in the sky" to those who were already very knowledgeable. Children enjoyed our Coloring Station and several who were participating in the Scavenger Hunt had to learn why people would want to make false clouds. (donations were moderate, but better than last year, and faire attendance might have been higher, possibly due to the Bidwell Park location)

After our superb booth last year we got a call this year inviting us to be there. Considering that two years ago we were persona non grata ("too controversial"), we've come a long way. Huge thanks to Byron and Jake for engaging with the faire-goers, and to Bill, Robert, and Jake for setting up and dismantling the booth. Special thanks to Bill for creating the flyers and posters and masterminding the nuts and bolts of the booth display panel.

Our next meeting is coming right up — Tuesday, May 13, 6:30 pm, at the Butte County Public Library on the corner of Sherman and First Avenues.

Plans in the hopper include inviting Dane Wigington to speak in Chico. We have met with the CSUC Peace Institute asking them to host Dane at their event next spring to speak on Climate Engineering, Weather Warfare, and the Collapse of Civilization. Three of the board members felt they were not sufficiently informed to vote, so the idea will be brought up again next month. If they agree to invite him, if wouldn't be until February 2015.

Feeling that we need to move more quickly, some of us think that a shorter version of Dane's talk, geared specifically toward the organic and community garden groups in the area, is worth pursuing. GeoEngineering delivers three effects directly related to food growing: drought, increasing levels of UVB, and aluminum toxicity. We are thinking of the Chico Grange as a venue and need to get the word out to all gardening groups. If you are involved with a group or know those who are, please come to the meeting to give your input into the discussion.

Chico Sky Watch is on a roll. Add your voice!
